It retrieves the BackToMe record without revealing the content of the request.

If you supply its SHA-256 fingerprint, it is compared with the one stored when the request was received.

The anchoring
The browser recomputes the link to the register from the fingerprint and path supplied.
Scope of the proof

What it lets you check
- that a request matching this reference exists;
- the date on which it was recorded;
- whether the supplied fingerprint matches the record;
- whether its link to the public anchoring is consistent.
What it does not decide
The check does not determine whether the customer’s statements are accurate, whether the request is legally justified or who is right in a dispute. The document’s evidential weight remains a matter for the competent court.
